Mrs. Cornelia "Jean" Harris Givens, 71, died on Monday, June 4, 2018 after an extended battle against lung cancer. Cornelia was born in Winston-Salem on November 21, 1946 to the late Horace and Ella Lou Harris.

She married James Givens on November 11, 1967, a union of 50 years that produced a loving daughter, Alethea Michele Givens of Potomac Falls, VA.  In her professional life, Cornelia was a technician for Western Electric, Lucent Technologies and General Dynamics.

Cornelia is survived by her husband, James; daughter, Michele; brother-in-law, John A. Givens; sisters-in-law, Ellen Givens of W-S, NC, Sadie Givens of Cleveland, OH, and Evelyn Givens of Baltimore, MD; sisters- in-Christ, Ruth K. Sherrard and Marietta Puryear; and a host of Godchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

A family visitation will be held from 6pm until 7pm Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel, 822 Carl Russell Ave. W-S, NC. Funeral services will be held at 1:30pm Friday, June 8, 2018 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family will also receive visitors from 1pm until 1:30pm on Friday at the Chapel.
