Corliss Anita Cook, 70, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at her home on September 20, 2025.

Born August 31, 1955, in Winston-Salem, she was the beloved daughter of the late James and Theresa Duren. Corliss was a dedicated employee of Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center until her retirement. Known for her impeccable fashion sense and vibrant "diva" personality, she also possessed remarkable technical skill, building computers for many years with brilliance and creativity. For more than a decade, she lovingly cared for her mother, demonstrating the quiet strength and devotion for which she was admired.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Emerson Duren and Vanessa Duren-Winfield.

Corliss leaves to cherish her memory her devoted son, Jesse L. Cook, II; six adored grandchildren, Jaliaha Cook, Ny'emia Sides, Emma Quick, Ahlina Quick, Jesse Cook III, and Maybiss Quick; one brother, Pastor Samuel L. Duren (Teretha); nieces and nephews, Sharnita and Donovan Duren, Deborah and Lakeshia Winfield; and a loving sister in Christ, Tameka Anderson.

Though private by nature, Corliss touched many lives with her quiet compassion, honest friendship, and deep love for those close to her. Her gentle spirit and unwavering care will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Honoring her wishes for a simple, private farewell, she will be laid to rest next to her sister Friday morning before the service, so there will be no viewing. We invite family and friends to join us afterward for an informal Celebration of Life and repass to remember her with love, stories, and laughter.

Services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, October 3, 2025 at Saints Assembly Church of God in Christ, 4715 Germanton Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
