Obituary

Constance Ayler Mitchell, 82, affectionately known as "Ma Mitchell" was called to glory Monday, March 1, 2010.
A native of Boston, MA she was born the last of thirteen children to the Henry Brent and Anita Brown Ayler on December 16, 1927.
Constance was educated in the Boston Public Schools .She worked for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System until retiring. She was a faithful member and servant at Stewards Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, where served in many capacities, including Senior Choir, Deaconess Board, Missionary and Mother of the church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eldridge E. Mitchell, Sr.; a son, Henry R. Mitchell; sisters, Alice Woodard, Christine Baker, Charlotte Thompson, Natalie Ayler, Anita Baker, and Marjorie Elder; and brothers, Norman Ayler and Henry Ayler.
She leaves to cherish precious memories her sons, Malcolm (Vivian) Marshall of Boston, MA, Eldridge Mitchell, Jr. of Rural Hall, NC, Tony (Sheila) Mitchell of Winston-Salem, NC, Derrick Mitchell of Rural Hall, NC, Brian Mitchell and Brent (Carla) Mitchell of Winston-Salem, NC; daughters, Michelle (Eric) Benjamin of Sewanee, TN, Ramona Mintz of Oklahoma City, OK, Letitia (Wallace) Simmons and Karyn (Henri) Torrence both of Winston-Salem, NC; 28 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces , nephews, cousins, and loved ones. Homegoing services will be held at 2pm Saturday, March 6, 2010 at St. James United Methodist Church Rural Hall, NC with Pastor Eddie Fortson officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 1pm until 2pm on Saturday at the Church.
