Ms. Connie Esther Smith Posey was born December 18, 1945 in Wadesboro, NC. She transformed from labor to reward on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center.

She was educated in the Forsyth County Schools and attended Atkins High School. She was a member of Spencer Memorial Christian Church until 2008 when she joined Messiah Community Christian Church. At Spencer Memorial she was a dedicated usher until her health failed. She retired from AraMark at the Forsyth County Detention Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ms. Carrie Mae Smith and James Bennett.

She leaves to cherish her memory loving daughters, Mrs. Donnie P. (Timothy) James and Denise R. Posey; one loving son, Benjamin E. Posey; three sisters, Bradney J. McWillis, Diane S. Marsh, and her devoted "Baby Sister", Denise L. Smith; four grandchildren, Ta'Nisha M. Kimbrough, Tianka D. James, Bobby W. Lindsay, Jr. and Benjamin A. Smith; two great-grandchildren, Sy'Miyah L. Kimbrough and Kyan S. Kimbrough; one aunt, Queen E. Bradley; three God-children, NaToshia James, Dwight Hoover, Sr., and Nicole Keaton; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins including, Mr. James H. (Brenda) Diggs, Sr.; and three devoted childhood friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 1pm Friday, January 13, 2012 at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 2320 Country Club Rd. W-S, NC with Reverend Sekinah Hamlin officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Friday at the Church.
