Mr. Coleman Palmer Jeter, 89, of 3012 Bon Air Avenue passed on Thursday, March 4, 2011 at the Wake Forest University/Baptist Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 21, 1921 in Forsyth County to Foster and Mamie Jeter. He was a veteran of the US Army and once returning home, he was self-employed.
Mr. Jeter was preceded in death by his parents; son, Cary Cain, Sr.; four sisters; and two brothers.
He is survived by a devoted wife of 66 years, Mrs. Hattie Cain Jeter; a devoted daughter-in-law, Maxine Cain; three loving and devoted grandchildren, Cary II (Lori) Cain of Durham, NC, Malia Cain and Cevin (Arthia) Cain both of Winston-Salem, NC; three great-grandchildren, Cevin Cain, Jackson Cain, and Caliyah Cain; two sisters, Dorothy J. Murphy and Elizabeth J. Frost; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Lyerly of Philadelphia, PA and Mary (Theodore) Shields of Winston-Salem, NC; devoted nieces, Val Jean Cain Grant and Cecelia J. Gordon; a devoted nephew, Sinatra L. Jeter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Union Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church.
The family will receive friends at the home of his granddaughter, Malia Cain, 4516 Princess Drive W-S, NC 27127.
