On Thursday morning, December 24, 2015 in Grand Turk Island, the earthly life of Mr. Cleveland Kelly "CK" Reed, Jr. was ended as God called him home to receive his mansion, robe, and crown.
Born in Chester, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Cleveland Kelly Reed, Sr. and Mrs. Georgeanna Moore Reed. He attended Finley Senior High School where he graduated in 1968. He was also a proud graduate of Denmark Technical College class of 1970. Mr. Cleveland K. Reed, Jr. was a Maintenance Foreman for the Housing Authority of the City of Winston-Salem for 30 years.
Mr. Cleveland K. Reed, Jr. was a member of Carver Road Church of Christ where he served as an Usher. He was a Mason who simply enjoyed his retired life. He enjoyed fine cigars, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. CK will be remembered for his debonair style, his charismatic personality, his confidence, and his sense of humor.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Reid, Sr. and Johnny (Iola) Reed both formerly of Chester, SC.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Mrs. Shagail Robinson Reed of the home; four children, Jeff Reed of Winston-Salem, NC, Christopher K. Reed, Sr. of Winston-Salem, NC, Shameka Patterson of Winston-Salem, NC, and TeNisha Mitchell of Raleigh, NC; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Michael W. (Marsha) Reed of Chester, South Carolina, Eddie C. (Coral) Reed of Chester, South Carolina, and Sylvester Foote of Washington, D.C.; one sister, Anna E. Reed of Chester, South Carolina; sister-in-law, Charlene Reid; and a host of nieces and nephews he admired dearly, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, January 11, 2016 at Carver Road Church of Christ with Brother Jefferson Caruthers officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Monday at the Church.
