After 50 years in his earthly body, Clayton "Champ" Surratt of 115 Peacock Avenue is now taken form to be with his heavenly father on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. He was born to Hilda and Charles Surratt on October 24, 1958.
Champ worked for Ralph Brinkley at Brinkley and Son's Automotive for the last 18 years. He has touched many people in his life and will be missed by a lot.
Clayton was preceded in death by his father, Charles Surratt, Sr.; all grandparents, both the Hills and Surratts; a sister, Cheryl Stevens; and one brother, Miles "Andy" Surratt.
He leaves behind his mother, Hilda Surratt; his wife of 8 years, Debra Surratt; his son, C.J. (Melissa) Surratt; step-children, Tammy (Matt Borsos) Allen, Crystal and Brandon Swistack, and Donny (Kim Wilson) Tucker; grandchildren, Spencer and Chloe, Zane and Luke, and Zack and Lane; brothers, Charles, Jr. "Chuck", Sam, and Shannon "Tater"; sisters, Rachel, Carolyn, and Mary; and a host of other relatives` and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 1pm Friday, January 16, 2009 at the Galilee Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Peterson officiating. The family wishes to welcome all friends to his mother's home at 1626 Greensboro St. Lexington, NC.
