Mr. Claude L. McCummings, Jr., has kept his appointment with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He answered the call on Sunday, May 8, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center, after a brief illness.
Claude was born on July 1, 1937 to the late Claude and Brownie Elizabeth McCummings. He was a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelia McCummings; and a brother, Harold McCummings.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Barbara C. McCummings. To
this union they were blessed with six children; two daughters and four sons, Claude L. (Cynthia) McCummings, Guy L. McCummings, Turonne D. "Peaches" (Lawrence) Rucker, Victor T. McCummings, and Reginald D. McCummings; 11 grandchildren; 1 devoted granddaughter, Kendra; 8 great grandchildren; 2 devoted great granddaughters, Kyaira and Tiyanna; his precious great- great granddaughter ,Saniya, all of the city; two brothers, David McCummings of Charlotte, NC and Donald (Linda)McCummings of Walkertown, NC; two sisters, Jacqueline (Walter) Black of Kernersville, NC and Beverly (Tony) Sellars of the city; two brothers-in-law, Wallace (Nellie) Crumblin and Robert Carter; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, May 14, 2011 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Rowdy officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Saturday at the Chapel.
