Obituary

Clarence Odell Warren, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice & Palliative Care Center in Winston-Salem, NC. He was born on June 1, 1934, to Thomas Sr. and Bertha Poindexter Warren in Oak Ridge, NC.

Odell was educated in the Guilford County School System and graduated from Summerfield Colored High School (Laughlin) in 1952. Odell served as a Private First Class in the United States Army Reserve from 1952-1960. He was retiree of Western Electric (AT&T) in Winston-Salem, NC. Odell was an advid baseball fan and played for the Stokesdale Cardinals.

He began his early Christian upbringings at Warrensville Church of God in Stokesdale, NC. Odell was a devoted and faithful servant of Providence Baptist Church, Kernersville, NC, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and a member of the Men's and Senior Choirs.

Odell was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Dimple Chambers Warren; his parents, Thomas Sr. & Bertha Warren; brothers, Earnest Warren and Thomas Warren, Jr.; and sisters, Hazel and his twin, Mozelle Warren.

He is survived by two sisters and one brother, Alta Mae Simmons of Stokesdale, NC, Olivia Martin of Redding, PA, and Andrew Warren of Long Beach, CA; three sisters-in-law Evelyn Warren of
Greensboro, NC, Lucille Warren of Kernersville, NC, and Helen Warren of Winston-Salem, NC; one daughter, Alecia Chambers Harvey (Alfred) of Winston-Salem, NC; three granddaughters, Yazhmin Price (Idrissa) of Charlotte, NC, Jihan and Kia Harvey of Winston-Salem, NC; a great grandson, Khalil Price of Charlotte, NC; Godsons, Luther Hauser (Mildred), Steve Ramsey (Sherry) and Robert Oakes (Deborah); special nieces, Phyllis McNeil, Cynthia Cunningham; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at 12noon Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Providence Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Vereen officiating. Interment will follow in Eastlawn Gardens of Memory, Kernersville, NC. The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 12noon on Saturday at the Church.
