Clarence Mills Thompson, age 76, of Washington, District of Columbia entered into eternal rest unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
Clarence Mills Thompson, the fifth child to the late Harold and Gladys Thompson, was born on August 3, 1948, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He received his formal education from Forsyth County Public Schools and graduated from Paisley Senior High School in 1967 where he excelled in basketball. After graduating, Clarence relocated to Washington, DC where he attended Federal City College (later University of the District of Columbia) and was a part of their inaugural basketball team.
Clarence was baptized and accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. In 1970, Clarence met and wed Betty Sullivan. They later parted ways after 13 years of marriage and from their union, Pamela and Anthony were born. In his relationship with Deborah Hooker, his daughter, Ebony and son, Durrell were born.
Clarence was employed with the District of Columbia Government in the Public Works Division where he dutifully served for 30 years and retired in 2002. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching sports and was a huge fan of Washington sport teams, especially the Commanders. He enjoyed his time alone and will forever be remembered for his quiet and reserved personality.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Gladys; and sisters, Doris Solomon, Belva Crockett, and Jacqueline Thompson.
Clarence is survived by his children, Pamela, Anthony (Yolonda), Ebony, and Durrell; sisters, Alice (Willie) Jones and Vernell Pitts; brothers, Kirby, Rev. Dr Vernon, and Terry Thompson; as well as several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
