Thursday morning December 3,2009, God saw the need to call Clarence W. McLaughlin Jr.,61, to rest after a brief illness at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Clarence was a native of Caswell County, NC and the son of Clarence and Henrietta McLaughlin.
He attended Caswell Co. Schools, prior to relocation to Winston-Salem, NC where he graduated from Forsyth Technical Community College. He served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired from Miller Brewing Company after 27 years of employment.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Della Penn; and two brothers, Lloyd McLaughlin and Raymond "Robbie" McLaughlin.
A devoted father and grandfather, he had a loving and giving spirit to those in need. Clarence was a member of King Solomon Consistory No. 64 and Sethos Temple # 170.
Left to cherish loving and heartfelt memories are his daughter, Renee' (Paul) Jones; one son, Tyrone S. McLaughlin of Winston-Salem; loyal and devoted former wife, Gwendolyn M. McLaughlin; two grandchildren Dominique R. McLaughlin and Desiree C. Jones both of Lewisville, NC; one brother, Earl McLaughlin of Caswell Co. NC; three sisters, Christine M. Alestock of Baltimore MD, Regina Gladden of Suitland, MD, and Virginia L. McLaughlin of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Tuesday, December 8, 2009 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from Noon until 1pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
