WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Claree Joyce Miller went to be with the Lord on March 24, 2009. She was born November 19, 1930 to Arthur Chalmers Hagans and Pearene Bridges in Fremont, NC.
She was a Summa Cum Laude Graduate of Winston-Salem State University Class of 1952. She was a retiree of the Winston-Salem Forsyth Count School System.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 53 years, Richard Lee Miller, Sr.; three brothers and six sisters.
She is survived by six children; Andrea Miller Thompson (Ernest), Barbara Hagans Johnson, Gordon Defois Reid, Karla Miller Connally (Perry), Richard Lee Miller, Jr., and Alycia Miller Greene (Therman); one step-son, Terry Hemphill (Bessie) of Los Angeles, CA; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm Monday, March 30, 2009 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Family visitation will be held from 12 noon until 12:30 pm Monday at the funeral home. The family can also be contacted at the home 1119 Peachtree Street or by phone 336-784-9029. "The family wishes to thank the staff at Silas Creek Manor and others for the special care and support given to the family."
