Mrs. Clara M .Blackwell, transitioned from this life to eternity with the Lord on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. She was born on October 13, 1933 to Catherine and Andrew McIntyre, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

She married young and reared thirteen beautiful children, seven boys and six girls with the love of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, John H. Blackwell; parents, Catherine and Andrew McIntyre; sister, Mary Lee Jackson; and four children, Robert, John Henry, Ellena Blackwell and Tanya Nash. Her memory will be cherished by her children, Catherine Johnson, Fannie (Alphonso) Lewis, Denise Wilson, Sharon Jennings, Tim, Wendell, Rory (Felicia), Donald (Amy), and Wayne Blackwell; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

With a wonderful sense of humor and a love for music you could always find her at the family gatherings dancing and enjoying life. She loved her family, and leaves nothing but beautiful memories.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Friday, June 21, 2024 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30pm Saturday, June 22, 2024 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12:00noon until 12:30pm on Saturday at the Church.
