Obituary

Christopher Steven Young, 28, of 3904 Marchester Way, Greensboro, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 7, 2018.

Mr. Young was born on December 8, 1989 in Winston-Salem, NC to Ms. Cynthia Diane "Dodie" Young.  Christopher was a member of the first graduating class of the School of Computer Technology at Simon Green Atkins High School in 2008. On his twenty-third birthday, December 8, 2012, Christopher graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science.

Christopher was active in various educational organizations. During high school, he was a representative for the National Youth Leadership Forum, a recipient of the YMCA Winston-Salem Future Black Achievers Award, the Student Ambassador for the School of Computer Technology at Simon Green Atkins, a participant in the Winston-Salem MSEN (Math Science Engineer Network) Pre-College Program. Christopher was very athletic and he played basketball for Reynolds and Atkins high schools, and he was an active ACM Member at North Carolina A&T State University "Aggie Pride."

Christopher was a faithful employee of BB&T in Greensboro, NC. He had a passion for helping all those who needed his services. He mentored several young men by helping them navigate their pathway to college. When time was available, Christopher enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, traveling, and playing pool, golf, bowling, and video challenges.

Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Eddie Lee Hines; maternal grandparents, Benjamin Young, Sr., and Marian Willette Young; paternal grandparents, Willie Dawkins and Jessie Dumas; and uncle, William Steven Young. Christopher was the only child of his devoted mother, Cynthia Diane Young. He was the light and joy of her life. Christopher also leaves behind his siblings, Darrell Fowler, Vickie Graham, Lenithia Tillman, Kendrick Stoddard, and Tavia Rice; uncles, Benjamin, Martin, Robert, and Raymond Young; aunts, Jacqueline Hester, Rebecca Ellis, Marian Shores, Willetta Cunningham, and Deborah Smith; special friend, Paris Love; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.

Christopher leaves his everlasting and precious memories to his loving mother, Cynthia Diane Young, and mentor, Mr. John Prince Williams who had a profound influence on Christopher's life. John became a part of Christopher's life at age nine and remained with him until Christopher's untimely passing. John bestowed a great deal of knowledge, wisdom, and support for Christopher throughout the years. By doing so, this allowed Christopher to flourish socially, academically, and professionally to become the great person we all came to know and love.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00noon Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church with the family visitation at 11:00am. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
