Obituary

Mr. Christopher Dewayne Jenkins, Sr. also known as "Jenx" departed from this world unexpectedly on December 25, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that radiates warmth, dedication, and a profound love for the culinary arts. Born on March 1, 1971, in Winston-Salem, NC, he was not only a cherished member of his community but also a beloved figure in the hearts of family and friends. Christopher's spiritual foundation was established early as a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where his active participation in Sunday School forged a strong connection with his faith.

A graduate of West Forsyth High School, Class of 1989, Christopher's post-education years were marked by the pursuit of his passion for cooking—a talent that would go on to define his professional life. In local restaurants, Christopher's culinary talents dazzled patrons with both intricate dishes and perfected comfort food. His commitment to excellence extended beyond the kitchen, evident in his years of dedicated service at Tyson Foods. Beyond his professional pursuits, Christopher was celebrated for his warm and generous spirit.

Christopher was meek, mild and infectious, his smile brought joy to every gathering. An avid sports enthusiast, he proudly cheered on the Dallas Cowboys and UNC Tar Heels, leaving an indelible mark on fellow fans. Christopher was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Daniel and Deaconess Mary E. Jenkins; and his mother-in-law, Missionary Denise J. Simmons.

He is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Monique Simmons-Jenkins; two sons, Christopher D. Jenkins Jr. (Laquisha) and Ahmad L. Jenkins; his adored grandchildren, Trey Montgomery, Jayla and Jayden Miller, and Aubree Jenkins; his wonderful mother, Priscilla Jenkins; brother, Sgt. Shawn A. Jenkins (Taulia); his father-in-law, Marion L. Simmons (Patricia); two sisters-in-law, Chaundra Simmons-Blue (Darrell) and Alicia N. Simmons,; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved four-legged companion, "Winston" Churchill Jenkins.

"I am gone away, but never far from my loved one's memories."
