Mrs. Christine E. Jackson, a child of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, earned her heavenly wings on November 6, 2022. She was born in Winston-Salem, NC on Saturday, May 9, 1925. Mrs. Jackson attended the local schools where she was a member of the Kimberly Park Glee Club and other school organizations. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and sang professionally at local venues during her youth.
In 1950 Mrs. Jackson moved to Detroit, MI and joined New Prosperity Baptist Church where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. She learned that the Lord was her Shepherd and walked with Him from that day forward and used her gifted voice to praise the Lord for the next 72 years. Mrs. Jackson returned to Winston-Salem in 2000 and became a member of Gethsemane Hope Missionary Baptist Church where she sang on the Senior Choir. The church family lovingly embraced her, and many called her Mother Jackson.
It is impossible to mention Mother Jackson without referencing her giving spirit. She was always one of the first to acknowledge birthdays and special occasions of family and friends with "surprise" envelopes. For years she would travel from Detroit to Winston-Salem to celebrate July 4 th and also spoil her grandchildren with an annual school clothes shopping trip. If you get a chance, ask Mother Jackson's family to tell you about her legendary skills on the BBQ grill!
Mother Jackson was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Willie Jackson; her mother, Mrs. Willie Jones Bennett; her brother, Mr. Clifford Jones; and her son, Mr. John Neal Jones (Rosalene).
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Mrs. Mary Jones Springs (Harold); her devoted daughter-in-law, Mrs. Rosalene Green; granddaughters, Carmen Jackson Springs and Anissa Carol Jones; grandsons, Harold L. Springs, Jr. (Lori), Keith Dwayne Springs Sr. (Brenda), and Shelton Bernard Davis; 13 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; a devoted cousin, Pat Fleming; and other loving relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Thursday, November 10, 2022 at Russell Funeral Home.
Homegoing Services will be held at 12noon Friday, November 11, 2022 at Gethsemane Hope Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens, Winston-Salem, NC. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Friday at the Church.
