Christine Francis Petty Butler, 84, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 9, 2010. She was formerly of Waterbury, CT and a 15 year resident North Carolina residing at 5129 Yukon Road in Walkertown, NC.

Mrs. Butler was born on January 12, 1925 in Pittsboro, NC to the late Ellis and Dockana Petty. She was a former member of Zion Baptist Church in Waterbury,CT. She untied with First Waughtown Baptist Church on April 16, 2007.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ozzie; brothers, Ellis and George Petty; and her sisters, Mary Elliott, Louise Brown, and Myrtle Graves.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her two sons, Norman Ozzie (Carolyn Carter) Butler of Kernersville, NC and Gerald Alan (Sonya) Butler, Sr., of Myrtle Beach, SC; one daughter, Marilyn E. Butler of Winston-Salem, NC; grandchildren, Gerald, Jr. and Derrick Butler; daughter-in-law, Lucretia Butler; one brother, John (Marie) Petty of Woodbury, CT; one sister, Ruth Snow of Waterbury, CT; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A celebration of her life will take place at 12:30pm Saturday, January 16, 2010 at First Waughtown Baptist Church, 838 Moravia St. with Pastor Dennis Bishop officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from Noon until 12:30pm Saturday at the Church.
The funeral procession will assemble and leave from the home of her son, Norman Butler at 1600 Jubilee Trail Kernersville, NC 27284.
