Chozen Eziah Haney, who was born on April 21, 2025, peacefully passed in the arms of his parents on July 12, 2025.
Chozen was born far too soon but entered this world with a strength that defied his tiny frame. From his very first breath, he began a courageous battle in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, where he fought with everything in him. For 83 days, Chozen faced every challenge with the heart of a lion. He endured countless procedures, overcame setbacks, and amazed doctors and nurses with his resilience. In a place filled with uncertainty, Chozen became a beacon of fierce love, unwavering determination, and quiet power. He brought light into our lives and reminded us daily of the beauty of perseverance, the power of love, and the presence of miracles.
Throughout his journey, he was never alone. His family remained faithfully by his side day and night—covering him in prayer, singing over him, and making sure he always felt loved.
Though his time here was brief, Chozen's life was nothing short of miraculous. He brought people together in prayer, stirred hearts with his fight, and taught us all the value of every single breath. He was truly Chozen. Chosen by name and chosen by God—born with purpose, loved beyond measure, and remembered forever.
He is survived by his mother, Cherelle Blakely; his father, Christopher McGee; his proud big brother, Channing Pratt; his grandmothers, Evette Blakely and Virginia McGee; grandfather Emanuel Haney, Jr.; along with a host of aunts, uncles, family and friends who will carry his light in their hearts for the rest of their lives.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Henderson, Amy Blakely, and Emanuel Haney, Sr.
Though we mourn his passing, we rejoice in the gift of his life. Rest peacefully, sweet Chozen—you finished your race with honor. Our sweet Chozen won.
