Chlories Jean Pinkney Shore lifetime resident of Winston-Salem and Pfafftown, NC, transitioned from life to eternal life on October 29, 2025, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.
Chlories was born August 12, 1947, to the late Allen Wilson and Betty Summers Pinkney. She graduated from Carver High School in 1965. She matriculated at Winston-Salem State University, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Primary Education. She received a Master of Science Degree from North Carolina A & T State University Education Administration and for her Post-Graduate, she attended the University of Hawaii.
Mrs. Shore worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company before beginning her long career with Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System. She held various positions with the district including teacher, where she was WS/FCS Teacher of the Year, Assistant Principal, and Program Specialist.
Mrs. Shore held membership with numerous professional, civic and social organizations including National Education Association, served in first class of NCCAT, Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity and served as President of Phi Omega Chapter Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was honored as Mid-Atlantic Outstanding Graduate President (North Carolina and Virginia). She received various awards and honors, Miss Carver (Carver High School), Mount Zion Baptist Church Woman of the Year.
Chlories was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where she served as Co-Chair of Trustee Board, Supervisor for Youth Missionary Department, Sunday School Teacher, Vacation Bible School, while her sons were children. Served as President of the Inspirational Choir, a member of the Chancel Choir, member of Senior Missionary Department- Dorcas and Esther Group, Hattie File Club, and Pulpit Selection Committee to interview a Pastor to come to our church. Chlories gave messages for the children at eleven o'clock worship and provided a message at eleven o'clock worship service. Her other accolades consist of, Public Speaker for churches and civic groups, calligraphy, Top awards: Blue Ribbons from Flower Shows held by formally known as Dixie Classic Fair, Fourth District Garden Council, member of Rake and Spade Garden Club Country Side, member of Bivouac Chapter #530 Order of the Eastern Star (Past Matron and Past Grand Officer), member of King Soloman #64 Order of the Golden Circle, Chapter member of Winston-Salem Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Inc., Partner of Hope for many years St. Jude Research Hospital, Gifts to Red Cross, W-S, Rescue Mission and other organizations.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Thomas Derrick Shore and Chad Raynard Shore; her parents, Allen W. and Betty Pinkney; grandparents, Hallie L. & Mabel Scales Summers and Fred B. & Susie Wilson Pinkney; a sister, Marilyn P. McKnight; and a brother, Kermit Pinkney.
Chlories will be remembered by her grandchildren, Briana Shore and Javion Shore; daughter-in-law, Tarsha Shore; great-grandson, Kwami Benjamin; sister, Roberta Alene Wilkins (Nathan); brother, Allen Pinkney, Jr. (Sharon); aunt, Lucy Summers Brooks; uncles, Willie Pinkney and Milton Pinkney; devoted niece and nephew, Hope Littlejohn and Rodney Springs; devoted cousin, Rayford Henderson; devoted friends, Elaine Bevels and Dyna McGriff; caretaker, Cheryl Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be no public viewing.
Funeral services will be held at 12:15pm Friday, November 7, 2025 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11:45am until 12:15pm on Friday at the Church. The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Ivy Beyond the Wall Ceremony will be held at 10:30am Friday, November 7, 2025 at the Church. The Eastern Star service will be held at 11:00am on Friday at the Church.
