Cheryl Yvette Watson, 61, was called home on January 30, 2023. Cheryl was born in Birmingham, Alabama to Charlie and Lois Hines on October 18, 1961. She graduated from Phillips High School in Birmingham and attended Booker T. Washington Jr Business College, also in Birmingham.
Cheryl was a loyal member of First Calvary Baptist Church under the pastoral leadership of Pastor Derwin L. Montgomery where she was a member of the Women's Ministry, the Usher Board, and the Helps Ministry.
Cheryl's mission in life was to make everyone around her happy. She was a caring person that genuinely loved her family and friends and did whatever it took to make a positive impact on their lives. She enjoyed traveling, lots of shopping, charitable giving, and celebrating holidays.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lois Hines; and her sister, Sonja La Shore.
She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Charles; daughter, Kawaska Hines; three grandchildren, Kylie, Khloe, and King; sisters, Valerie Carson, Stephanie Jackson, and Carolita Hines all of Birmingham AL; two uncles, Ernest Carson of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jonnie Parker of Birmingham, AL; two aunts, Olivia Burnett and Gloria Parker of Birmingham AL; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins; Cheryl will be missed by family and special friends, Darnella Cook and Telfer Penn Smith.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00 Monday, February 6, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home. A family visitation will be held from 5:00pm until 6:00pm Monday February 6, 2023 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at First Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm on Tuesday at the Church.
