Obituary

Cheryl Diane Donnie was born October 31, 1948 to the late Naomi Pearl Anderson Ferguson. She was educated in the W-S Forsyth County public school system and graduated from Atkins High School.

In June of 1967, Cheryl gave birth to her first child. In January of 1969, she had given birth to her second. In 1972, she was living in Philadelphia, PA and had given birth to her third child, and gave birth to her last in January of 1976.

Cheryl had a passion for fashion and would love to wear nice clothes and shoes. She also had an entrepreneurial side to her that began with a table and chair on the streets of Philadelphia where she would sell women's jewelry and accessories. She was an excellent hair braider as well; this skill allowed her to earn extra money and a reputation of a great hair braider.

Cheryl returned to NC in the late 70s, became a Home Health Aide, and with her experience of being a barmaid in Philly allowed her to run several speakeasies, and candy houses alike. She would sell anything from hotdogs to pickled pig feet, but she's most famous for her candy apples. Her apples received so much buzz she made the local newspaper one year.

Cheryl loved a good party and in her earlier years she would keep an annual masquerade themed event. The party was held to celebrate her Halloween day birthday. The majority of them would be held at a Residence Inn and would be talked about for months after it ended.

Cheryl was extremely caring and would always help someone in need, especially when it came to food. She would collect canned goods and other non-perishable items and use her front yard as a distribution center so that anyone in need could have access to it. She also didn't mince words and if she needed you to know how she felt, you still remember till this day.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her eldest son, Darryl Lindsay; all her siblings, her sister, Betty Stephens and her brothers, Michael Lindsay and Cleophus Caesar, Jr; and her mother, Naomi Pearl Ferguson Anderson. Following Cheryl's death was her granddaughter, Soniya Newsome.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory to her three children, Trevor "Li" Wiggins, Philadelphia PA, Rahsaan Wiggins, Winston Salem, NC, and Isisces Wiggins, Philadelphia PA; grandchildren, Darryl "Diddy" Moore, LeShunda Taylor (BK), Arianna Fullard, Saniya Fullard, and a bonus grandson, Antonio "Lil Toni" Buie; great grandchildren, Dejwaun "Dae Dae" Newsome, Neveah Lewis, MyNautia Moore, Kingston Lewis, Zynier Moore, Zoniya Moore, Jada Smith, Larry Warren Jr., and Christopher Warren; one great-great  granddaughter, Deja Monique Robinson Newsome; Cheryl had a very special niece whom she loved dearly, Chenita Rogers, Philadelphia, PA; two bonus children, Celena McLean, Philadelphia, PA and Tonya Mitchell, Winston Salem, NC; and a loving caregiver who became a second daughter to her instantly, Stephanie Evans; in the more recent years she and her cousin, Sheryl Reinhart would see each other on a daily basis; her sisters-in-law, Carolyn Lindsay and Denise Caesar and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, god children and friends especially on Graham Ave whom will miss her dearly.
