Obituary

Mr. Charlie Byrom Sr., 92, quietly departed this life on December 29, 2023 at Trinity Glen Nursing Home in the care of Family, Trinity Glen Nursing Home Staff, Administrators, and Trellis Hospice Supportive Care Personnel.

Charlie Byrom Sr. was born September 4, 1931 in Macon County, Georgia to late Mr. James Eugene Byrom and Beulah Mae Williams Byrom. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 62 years, Elouise Daily Byrom; and his youngest son, Brian Alexander Byrom at 58 years old; his brother, Mr. James Eugene Byrom at 92 years old; and his sister, Mrs. Essie Byrom Jackson of Hampton, GA.

Charlie retired from Middlesex County Construction Road Division after twenty years of service in 1992. He taught himself to operate every machine required for road and highway construction with only a third grade education. Despite this, he was still able to provide for his wife and five sons until each son was able to leave the comfort of his home and provide for themselves.

Also, while living in New Jersey, he owned and operated two restaurants alongside his wife and sons.

He definitely was a "Jack of All Trades" as there weren't many things he couldn't fix, or figure out how to fix. If it involved working with his hands, from mechanics, machine equipment, carpentry or any kind of landscaping, he was, or became proficient at it.

In 1955 he moved to New Brunswick, New Jersey until 1996 when he moved to Winston-Salem, NC where he lived until his passing.

In every neighborhood he lived, from New Jersey to North Carolina, Mr. Charlie or Mr. Byrom as he was often referred, was regularly called upon by neighbors and friends for whatever needed fixing, and sometimes his sage advice on life lessons he would often pass on to young men in his communities. He was the Dad or Father figure to many at a time in their lives when they simply needed someone to listen to them and not judge them.

On March 20, 1955 he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Elouise Daily Byrom, and from this union, five sons were born.

He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory, four loving and devoted sons, Mr. Charlie "Chuck" Byrom, Jr. (Priscilla) of Winston-Salem, NC, Mr. Robert Neal Byrom (Cheryl) of New Brunswick NJ, Mr. Andre Bruce Byrom of New Brunswick, NJ, and Mr. Eugene James Byrom (Cynthia) of Winston-Salem NC; three brothers, Mr. Robert Byrom (Margret) of Tallahassee, FL, Mr. James Davis Byrom (Elisabeth) of Vienna, GA, and Mr. Johnny Hardrick of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Tresvant of Hawthorn, CA, and Ms. Marne Williams of Vienna, GA; five brothers-in-law, Mr. Dell Crawford (Maggie) of Cleveland, MS, Mr. Morris Daily Jr. (Juanita) of Jonesboro, GA, Mr. Bennie Daily (Martha) of Brentwood, TN, Mr. Joseph Daily of Fort Valley, GA, and Mr. John Daily (Linda), Dacula GA.

He also leaves to cherish his memory devoted grandchildren whom he cherished, loved and adored, Hashan, Raheem, Kareem, Allen, Tanika, Omarr, Llord, Dont'e, Ciani, Marquis, and Jamal; thirteen great grandchildren; and a host of loved and cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowful friends.

The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Trinity Glen Nursing Home staff, Administration and personnel for care and services during the period of time Mr. Byrom was at their facility and to Trellis Supportive Services Hospice Care Personnel.
