Charlie James McRae better known as "C.J." passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born April 17, 1950 to Annie Ruth Johnson and Len McRae in Marion, SC. He attended Marion County Schools, and enlisted in the Army in 1971 where he did a tour of duty in Vietnam. He retired from the City of Winston-Salem in January 2010 and was a member of Macedonia Worship Center.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife and caregiver, Sarah Cross McRae; two sons, Charles (Vonetta) McRae and Christopher (Crystal) McRae all of Winston-Salem, NC; two grandchildren and one step-granddaughter; father, Len McRae of Glouster, VA; brother, Raymond (Mary) Johnson of Marion, SC; one uncle, Robert (Barbara Jean) Johnson of Marion, SC; father and mother-in-law, Ed and Elizabeth Cross; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Todd Fulton officiating. Entombment will follow in Gardens of Memory, Walkertown, NC. The family visitation will be held from 1:30pm until 2pm on Tuesday at the funeral home.
