Mr. Charlie L. Fair, 87, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend, departed his earthly life on Sunday, November 13, 2011, at home with his beloved family at his side.
Mr. Fair was a native of Winston-Salem, NC. He graduated from 14th Street Elementary School and Atkins High School. He attended NC A&T State University and is an US Army Veteran. He retired from the US Postal Service.
Mr. Fair was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he served as a member of the Trustee Board and a former Sunday School Teacher. He was a faithful member of James H. Young Masonic Lodge #670 PHA where he served as a Master twice. He was also a member of the Post #220.
Mr. Fair was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, JC, Bennie, Leroy, Johnnie, and Willie; and two sisters, Ethel and Annie "Dolly".
Mr. Fair is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Adele T. Fair; one son, Charles Edward Fair; one daughter, Paulette Smith; a step-son, Clinton Thomas; six granddaughters, one special, Blossom Smith; five grandsons, one special, Terrell Smith; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, a special niece, Juanita F. Archie; and a host of cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Emmanuel Baptist Church. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Saturday at the Church. Interment will be held on Monday, November 21, 2011 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
