Mr. Charles Monroe Winchester, Jr., 66, son of the late Charles M., Sr. and Lucile Redwine Winchester passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2007 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home following a period of illness. He was born on November 3, 1940 and attended the local public school graduating from Atkins High School.
His occupational history consisted of employment with R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. for 30 years and he was also a Navy veteran.
"Bud" as he was affectionately called by family and friends, was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Blackmon Winchester; his parents; and brothers, Horace, Ronald, Kenneth, and Donnell Winchester.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories one sister, Mrs. Shirley W. (George) Hairston; a son, Mr. Leander S. (Diane) Jones; three daughters, Ms. Tamara White, Mrs. Latonja Angel (Haywood) Hanna, and Ms. Alisa Crowell.; two step-daughters, Ms. Trinna and Ms. Deborah Blackmon; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2pm, Thursday, July 12, 2007 from the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Zavious Pratt officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2pm on Thursday at the Chapel. The funeral cortege will assemble and leave from the home at 1318 Argonne Blvd.
