Mr. Charles Leon Williams was born on December 15, 1959, and was called home on Friday, January 30, 2026. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Bettie Jo Williams.
Leon leaves to cherish his precious memory his devoted father, Thad Williams; his children, Carmelita Woodard and Kalil Porter; seven loving sisters, Barbara (Charles) Morton, Mable Peterson, Vanessa (Kenneth) Fikes, Virginia (Raheem) Divine, Lavonda (Dr. Rodrike Roberts), Lakisha Albright, and Jessica Jordan; and one brother, Oz Credle, all of Winston-Salem, NC. He also leaves behind a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends who loved him dearly.
Leon attended North Forsyth High School and graduated with the Class of 1979. He was known as an outstanding athlete whose talent on the basketball court opened doors for him to attend Morristown University and Livingstone College. Athletics were not just a gift for Leon — they were a passion that followed him throughout his life.
He found true happiness in the simple but meaningful moments — spending time with his grandchildren, laughing with family, and enjoying the company of his lifelong friends, Bobby Kimbrough Jr., Robert Coleman, and Reggie Glenn. Leon loved playing basketball, golfing, and lifting weights. He carried himself with strength, pride, and determination.
Being part of a large family meant everything to Leon. He shared a special and lasting bond with his father and sisters that remained strong throughout his life. Family was not just important to him — it was his foundation.
Leon will be remembered for his love of family, his athletic spirit, and the memories he created with everyone who had the blessing of knowing him. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. The love he gave and the memories he leaves behind will forever be cherished.
We love you, Leon ❤️
