Reverend Charles Henry Smith, Jr., 57 was born on October 4, 1951 to Charles H. Smith, Sr. and Helen S. Sykes.
He departed this life in the early morning of June 19, 2009 at his residence.
He was an active member of St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday school, B.T.U. and Vacation Bible School teacher. He was ordained by the Rowan Association in 2004. He enjoyed and was dedicated to teaching and preaching God's word until his health declined.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents; Charles H. Smith Sr., Robert Sykes (stepfather) and Helen Sykes.
Left to mourn and cherish all the memories are his wife, Barbara Smith; brother, Norvell (Sharon) Smith; sister, Ellen (James) Miles, all of Winston-Salem, NC; two sons, Charles (Ameshia) Smith III, and Dameon Smith of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Cherese Smith and Stephanie Smith; an aunt, Fannie (James) Williams; uncle, Harry (Tilley) Smith; niece, Sonya Watts; five grandchildren, Anisha Smith, Kierre Smith, Reginald Green III, Kahla Smith, Richard Walker, Jr.; and many other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1pm Wednesday, June 24, 2009 from the St. Stephen Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor James E. Cook officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from Noon until 1pm on Wednesday at the Church.
