Charles J King, Jr., son, brother, uncle and friend passed early Saturday, August 27, 2011. A lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, he graduated from RJ Reynolds High School and Winston-Salem State University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He was a pioneer as one of the first Black managers of a factory unit for RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co.
He was an active member and Deacon at the Damascus Baptist Church. He managed The Winston-Salem Rescue Mission, store #2 before he fell ill in 2008.
He leaves to mourn his father, Charles King, Sr.; sisters, Cheryl (Atlanta) and Debra; brother, Kenneth; nephew, Miles; and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Charles Leak officiating and Reverend Theodore Warren, Jr. eulogist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 11am until 12noon on Wednesday at the Chapel.
