Elder Charles L. Johnson passed away Friday, January 28, 2011.He was born in Forsyth County on September 24, 1940 to the late Bishop Jake J. Johnson Sr. and Pauline S. Johnson (Elizabeth). He attended the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System, was an employee of R.J Reynolds, served in the United States Army, and was a member of and faithfully served as Pastor Emeritus of Mount Nebo Outreach Church, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings, Jake J. Johnson Jr., Mary Johnson, Frances Mason, and Jackie Friday.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Johnson; six children, Christopher Johnson, Sharla Lindsay, Winifred Dula, Gerald McGee, Cleavon McGee, and Tia Duncan; eight grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1pm Friday, February 4, 2011 at Macedonia Worship Center, 500 Kinard Drive Winston-Salem, NC with Pastor Anthony B. Wilson officiating and Bishop Antonio L. Johnson, Sr. eulogist. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Friday at the Church.
