Mr. Charles E. Robinson of 1353 Argonne Blvd, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the Forsyth Medical Center following a short period of illness. He was born November 9, 1931 to Albert and Bessie Robinson.
He was a lifelong resident of Winston-Salem, NC where he attended the Winston-Salem/ Forsyth County Schools. He retired from McLean Trucking Company and the Forsyth County Schools system. After retiring from Forsyth County, he was employed as a part-time school bus driver.
He attended New Bethel Baptist Church where the pastor is Dr. Kendall D. Jones. His church affiliates include: Sunday School teacher, the Mass Choir, Laymen League, the Deacon Board, Baptist Training Union, President of the Forsyth County Baptist Training Union, and Chairman of the Forsyth County Deacons Union Executive Board.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Deborah Massey and Brenda Simpson; and one brother, Eugene Robinson.
Surviving are his loving and devoted wife of 57 years, Nira Robinson; one daughter, Myra (Dennis) Wilson; two brothers, Albert and Donald Robinson; two sons-in-law, Larry Massey and Romulus Simpson; two granddaughters, Monica Massey of Columbus, OH and Chandra Simpson; one grandson, Romulus Simpson, Jr.; two great-grandsons, Larry A. Massey of the home and Christopher L. Simpson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at noon Friday, August 31, 2007 from the New Bethel Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Kendall D. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 11am until noon on Friday at the Church.
