On September 26, 2013, our father, grandfather ("Papa"), cousin, "Dude" and very dear friend Charles Crowder, Jr. departed this earthly life at the Novant Health-Forsyth Medical Center. He was born July 24, 1935 to the late Bernice Leake and Charles Crowder, Sr. in Anson County, Wadesboro, NC.

He was educated in the Anson County Schools then served in the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he continued his education at Winston-Salem Teachers College for 3 years and played football.
Charles was employed in the Winston-Salem Forsyth County School System for many years before retiring while working at R. J. Reynolds Industries. In 1989 he retired as a supervisor from R. J. Reynolds-Tobaccoville. He remained an active member and faithfully served in his church, St. Stephen Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his twin brother, Lorenzo Crowder.

He leaves to cherish his memory a devoted son, Kevin Clinton (Sheila) of W-S, NC; a stepson, Lewis Clinton, Jr. (Lisa) of California; four grandchildren, Natese and Kevin Clinton, Jr., Nina and Matthew Clinton; two special cousins, Beverly Black (Wallace) of W-S,NC and Veronica Finch (Alfred) of Hampton, VA; two very close and dear friends, Nancy Green and Roosevelt Hopkins both of W-S, NC; and a host of cousins and godchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Friday, October 4, 2013 at St. Stephen Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Friday at the Church.
