Ms. Celestine Williams, affectionately known as "Teen", was born March 4, 1942. She peacefully entered an eternal rest on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 following a brief illness at Wake Forest Baptist Health. She was a native of Winston-Salem, NC. She attended the public schools, was a Baptist by faith, and retired from Hanesbrand, Inc.

"Teen" was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Burgess; and two brothers, Melvin Williams and James Burgess, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories and celebrate a life well lived her father, James Burgess, Sr.; daughter, Karen Higgins; son, Stefan Washington of the city; loving granddaughter, J'Keyah Higgins of Durham, NC; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mona Burgess of the city and Allean Smith of Washington, DC; two brothers, Leslie Burgess and Kenneth Burgess of the city; loving a devoted friend, Vannois Jefferson; treasured friends, Edmund McNeil, Sharon Jefferson, and Cheryl Clinton; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. "Teen" will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Monday, March 23, 2015 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Sharon Pollard officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Monday at the Chapel.
