On February 24, 2011 an angel was called home. Mrs. Catherine Williams Kirkland departed this life after an extended illness at Forsyth Medical Center. Throughout her illness, she remained faithful and kept her focus on the Lord as she fought a courageous battle.
She was born November 27, 1946, in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Elizabeth Williams and James Davis; she was lovingly raised by Henry and Jeanine Sherrill.
Catherine accepted Christ at an early age at Friendship Baptist where she was baptized. As an adult, she became a forty-three year member of Morning Star Baptist Church. Catherine joined the Union Baptist Church family in 2006.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Davis and Elizabeth Williams.
She is survived by a lovingly devoted husband of forty-eight years, Bobbie Kirkland, Sr.; two daughters, Jennene Kirkland and Tiffany Kirkland; one son, Bobbie Kirkland, Jr.; one granddaughter, Amber Horne; one grandson, Kahil Kirkland; and a great- grandson Konye Speas; two sisters, Vanessa Lyerly and Mary Caldwell (Ron); one brother, Percel Williams (Francine); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, March 4, 2011 at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Sir Walter Mack, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Friday at the Church.
