Ms. Cassie "Aunt Mary" Thompson, passed away Tuesday, August 21, 2007. She was born in Richmond County, NC to Henry and Laura Collins.

Cassie made her home in Winston-Salem, NC many years ago. She was a resident of the Somerset Assisted Living Facility. Cassie was a retiree of the O.R. Department of Forsyth Medical Center. She was a faithful and devoted member of Mars Hill Baptist Church where she attended Sunday School, a member of the Senior Class Number 2, as long as her health allowed she served as Secretary, and served on the Usher Board for many years until her health declined, she always wore her uniform and set with the ushers as long as her health allowed.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Ozella Horne.

She is survived by three nieces, a loving and devoted Carolyn Grooms-Bowens (Willie), Mildred Daniels of Baltimore, MD, and Berta Mae Jaco of California; two devoted great nieces, Ms. Lolitha Holiday and Ms. Shannon McKay; she also leaves to cherish a host of other nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Monday, August 27, 2007 at Mars Hill Baptist Church, 1331 E. 4th Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be held from 12:30 pm until 1 pm Monday at the church.
