Mr. Cary Donald Cain, 70 of 1711 Butler Street passed away March 22, 2010. He was born on July 18, 1939 in Winston-Salem, NC to Hattie and Coleman Jeter.
He was a graduate of Atkins High School class of 1958 and attended Winston-Salem State University. He worked at R.J. Reynolds for a total of 35 years as a head mechanic. He was a member of Macedonia Worship Center where he served on the Deacon Board, chairman of the Trustee Board, chairman of the Finance Committee, and treasurer of the church. Mr. Cain served as chairman of the Southside CDC-Community Development Council.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mrs. Maxine Spann Cain of the home; three children, Cary (Lori) Cain of Durham, NC, Malia Cain, and Cevin (Arthia) Cain all of Winston-Salem, NC; one God-daughter, Sharelle Patterson; four grandchildren, Cevin Cain, Jackson Cain, Caliyah Cain, and Jonell Spann; two God-granddaughters, She'Andra Patterson and Chelsea Patterson; one God-great-granddaughter, Shellie Matthews; two brothers, James Scott and James (Winiferd) White; three sisters, Loretta Young-Williams, Barbara Olstead, and Crystal (Alford) Crump; two sisters-in-law, Blondell Hardin and Janice Smith; four aunts, Mary (Theodore) Shields, Hazel Lyerly of Philadelphia, PA, Mildred Spann of Winston-Salem, NC, and Susie Mae Spann of New York; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; two devoted cousins, Valjean Cain Grant and Eddie Miller; and four devoted friends, Gene Bess, Clifford Wilson, Ernest Squire, and Nathaniel McCullough.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Monday, March 29, 2010 at Macedonia Worship Center with Apostle S.D. Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 2pm on Monday at the Church.
