Mr. Carvin "C.B." Boyd, Sr., 92, formerly of Gastonia, NC passed away peacefully on June 2, 2017 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem, NC.
He was born December 14, 1924 in Gaston County, NC to the late Kirby Boyd and Cora McCoy Boyd. C.B. was the youngest and only son and the last survivor of the family's three children.
The primary focus of his life was his family who he loved unconditionally and adored highly. He was a hard worker who believed in supporting his family in many ways. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was affectionately called, "PaPa."
He was a lifelong member of Tabernacle Baptist Church of Gastonia, NC where he served faithfully on the Trustee and Usher Boards until his health declined.
His wife and the love of his life, Alberta Crank Boyd, preceded him in death as well as his two sisters, Eather Boyd Miller and Helen Boyd Page.
He is survived by his three children, Carvin V. (Linda) Boyd, Melvin "Mel" (Vernon) McHam, and Norris L. (Sybil) Boyd; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a devoted nephew, Ricardo (Essie) Miller; a niece, Deborah Page; devoted cousins, Bobby Jean Smith and S.M. McCoy; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and several special friends and neighbors.
Homegoing services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 519 West 19 th Ave. Gastonia, NC 28052 with Dr. Benjamin Hinton officiating. Interment will follow in Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia, NC. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1:00pm on Thursday at the Church.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Forsyth Medical Center's 8 th & 9 th Floors, Salem Chest Specialists, Dr. Chirapa Sinthusek, Advanced Home Care, Trinity Glen, and the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
