On Oct. 26, 2011, Carrie Elizabeth Acker Pate slipped into the arms of her savior to rest in eternity with her husband, Rev. Odell Bailey Pate; her parents, James and Carrie Acker; a son, Odell Bernard Pate; a daughter, Imetta Pate; and 2 sisters, Betty Jean Thrash and Annette Brown.
Mrs. Pate, a professional cook, was born in Anderson, SC. She was a faithful member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church and a long time employee of the Courtyard Marriott.
She leaves cherished memories with, 1 aunt, Hattie Greene; sister, Verdell Campbell; brother, James Acker; 7 children, Adele Pate, Cordelia Cooper (Fred), Preston Pate, Richard Pate, Maeola Leak (Paul), Reginald Acker, and Janice Acker; a devoted daughter-in-law, Delphine Smith Pate; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great -great grandchild; a host of nieces and nephews; her extended family, Elmo and Patricia Douthit; and faithful friend, Wanda Davis.
Funeral services will be held at 12noon Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Bishop John C. Parks officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 6:00pm until 7:00pm on Monday, October 31, 2011 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter Cordelia Cooper at 790 Motor Rd.
