Mrs. Carolyn Brown Cody was born in Winston-Salem, NC on May 15, 1947, the daughter of Andrew and Willie Bell Black. She transitioned to Glory on March 11, 2017.
She retired from Winston-Salem State University where she impacted so many lives. She was the Past Worthy Matron of Magnolia Chapter of OES, a daughter of ISIS, a Turtle, and an Elk.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her 3 children Eric D. (Rose) Brown, Kanika Brown of Winston-Salem, and Janice Bryant of Philadelphia, PA; 5 grandchildren, Eric D. Brown, Jr., RaShaun D. Brown, Zaneta Brown, Keona Bryant, and Karrington Bryant; 10 great grandchildren all whom she loved dearly; 2 sisters, Cathy P. Black and Clayvon P. Lyons; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Friday, March 17, 2017 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Eyvette Abbott officiating. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 12:30pm until 1:00pm on Friday at the Chapel.
