On April 17, 1942, God blessed us with a caring and loving angel, Caronelle Coston White. She went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 12, 2012. She was born in Wilmington, NC and was the eldest child of Hoyt and Sadie Coston. Caronelle graduated from Williston High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Winston-Salem State University where she graduated with honors. As an undergraduate, she became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Caronelle was an excellent nurse. She was one of the first African-American charge nurses at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Caronelle worked as a school nurse and pediatric nursing specialist with the Forsyth County Health Department for nearly 30 years. She blessed numerous children and families through her compassionate care as a nurse.

As much as Caronelle enjoyed nursing, the Lord and her family were the loves of her life. She faithfully served Goler Metropolitan A.M.E. Zion Church in many capacities. Caronelle was an advisor for the Buds of Promise and a member of the Women's Home and Overseas Missionary Society and the Willing Workers Club. In 2001, she was recognized by the Christian Education Department for 35 years of dedicated Christian service, several of which she was the Sunday School Superintendent. She also ministered along with her husband, the late Rev. Joseph L. White, at several A.M.E. churches until his death.

Caronelle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her brother, Carroll Coston.
Left to continue her legacy and celebrate her life are her son, George (Tausha) Hicks; two granddaughters, Natalie and Victoria Hicks all of Simpsonville, SC; Hilbert (Carol) Brown, whom she loved as a son, of W-S, NC; a close friend and family member, Zepplyn Barker of W-S, NC; a caring friend and caregiver, Annette Spigner of Greenville, SC; and numerous relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Goler Metropolitan AME Zion Church. Interment will follow in Piedmont Memorial Gardens. The family visitation will be held from 1:30pm until 2pm on Saturday at the Church.
