Mrs Carolyn Velissa Sharpe Smith was born on September 10th in late summer of 1956 to Mr and Mrs Clyde and Georgia Springs Sharpe. She departed this life on Saturday October 26th at Forsyth Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and friends. She was the second oldest of five siblings.

Carolyn was a graduate of North Forsyth High School and Forsyth Technical Community College where she obtained her nursing degree as she furthered her degree at WSSU. Carolyn was employed by seven health care facilities in the surrounding areas as a Registered Nurse for 40 years. She was a loyal and dedicated wife, a loving mother, an amazing grandmother, and an excellent cook. She was also good at arts and crafts.

Carolyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 19 and cultivated her relationship with him. She attended Union Baptist Church until her health began to fail.

She was proceed in death by her loving father  Clyde Sharpe Jr and her mother Georgia Springs Sharpe.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 38 years, Ernest Smith Jr, one daughter Amira Smith, two sons Ernest (LaTosha) and Justin Smith. The joys of her life were her six darling grandchildren, Mariah, Jarrod, Aaliyah, Jeremiah, Aurora, and Brooklynn. She will be sorely missed by her four sisters, Jocelyn Johnson, Tammy Orr (Terry), Sharon Coleman (Michael), and Dorene Braddy (Charlie) and a special niece Tina Sheff. She also leaves behind her father-in-law Mr Ernest Smith Sr., sisters-in-law Christine Howard (Edward), Annie Mashack (Joesph), her brothers-in-law Tony Smith and Kenny Smith (Pamela) and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial service will be held 2pm Friday November 1st, 2019 at Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Family visitation will begin at 1:30pm in the Chapel.
