Obituary

Carolyn Ann Matthews Marlin was a child of God and was called home to her Heavenly Father December 23, 2023. She was born in Winston-Salem, NC on September 7, 1945, to William and Dorothy Matthews.

Carolyn graduated from Atkins High School on June 6, 1963. She retired from AT&T, formally Western Electric where she made many friends including her longtime friends the "Golden Girls".

Carolyn was a tough, strong and loving woman who loved GOD and she loved God's word. She was a prayer warrior in her own right; MIGHTY and POWERFUL with her words; always willing to pray for someone leaving an impact on family, friends and the community that only heaven knows.

Carolyn was a member of Phillips Chapel Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized September 2, 2007.

Carolyn LOVED watching sports, especially football and had many "sons" her favorite team was the Kansas City Chiefs.

Carolyn truly enjoyed working in her garden and was generous, sharing what she grew without wanting anything and maintained a beautiful yard, always working in and around her house.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Willie Gene, Tyrone, Gwen, Hedrick and Vickie.

Carolyn is survived by her beloved children, son, Isaiah (Felicia) Marlin Jr. and daughter, April Marlin; and leaves to cherish her memories her grandchildren, Asia and Amir Marlin and Gavin Brewington; her beautiful great granddaughter, Ari Marlin. She also leaves her wonderful sisters, who also considered themselves the "Golden Girls": Claudette, Lorraine, Denise, Veleria (Levi) and Gloria (Thomas) and was blessed with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces/nephews, cousins and friends.
