Sister Carolyn Pettaway Copeland was born August 31, 1954 in Theodore, AL to the late Hazel Mae Carter Pettaway and Ike Pettaway. She departed this life and went to her heavenly home with her family by her side on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at 7:30pm.

She graduated from Saint Paul's College as a Business Education major and was a devoted employee of First Baptist Church-Highland Ave. as the office manager/bookkeeper.

Left to cherish her sweet memories are her devoted husband of 35 years, Michael Edward Copeland, Sr.; daughter, Cara Janet Copeland; son, Michael Edward Copeland, Jr.; devoted friends, Andrea Trent and Natasha Brent Martin-Smith; nine siblings, Mary Anne Pettaway Jones, Nathaniel Pettaway, Felix Earl Pettaway, Cleveland Lewis Pettaway, Sondra Jean Pettaway Allen, Brenda Faye Pettaway, Vernita Michelle Pettaway Shelton, Lytongela Pettaway McCarty, and Patrick O'neal Pettaway; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 1pm Monday, December 29, 2014 at First Baptist Church with Reverend Darryl Aaron officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 12noon until 1pm on Monday at the Church.
