Carol Denise Jones, passed away on November 23, 2007 after a extended illness at Duke University Medical Center in Durham N.C
"Cookie" as she was affectionately known, was born on April 14, 1963 to Booker T. Bohannon and Diana Jones Carpenter in Winston Salem, N.C.
Cookie graduated from RJR High School in 1979 and UNC-Greensboro in 1984 with a Bachelors of Arts in Early Childhood Education. Cookie loved children, and this was evident by her dedicated service to several day care centers in the area. She was the Director of Saints Home United Methodist Church Pre School, and for many years, served as the Director of Bethlehem Community Center. Children of all ages whom she would encounter along life's journey would stop and say " Hi , Ms. Jones…" and tell her what an impact she had made in their lives. This pleased her greatly, as she realized that a strong foundation for children at an early age is very important in their development.
Cookie's Christian journey began at an early age when she joined Union Baptist Church here in Winston- Salem N.C. Cookie moved her membership to St. Peter's World Outreach Center in 2005. Cookie was a faithful member an embraced the church's vision of "winning souls and making disciples." Cookie was so excited about Christ and the church's mission, she would tell everyone about the work that St. Peter's World Outreach Center was doing. She encourage every one that she knew that did not have a church home to come and visit with her. During her membership at St. Peter, Cookie completed the School of Leaders Training which included Cell Leaders Training, Pre Encounter, The Encounter, and Post Encounter among many other classes that were required.
She was preceded in death by her parents; maternal grandparents, Cal and Annie Mae Howell Jones; and paternal grandparents, Arthur David and Percie Mitchell Bohannon.
