Carlos Anthony Sheff was born on April 19, 1963, to the late Joe Lynch and Barbara Sheff Rankin. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, March 4, 2023.
Carlos was a graduate of RJ Reynolds High School, Forsyth Technical Community College, and ECPI, who later continued his education with the Naval Air Technical Training Command (NATTC) in Millington, Tennessee and was a part of the Service School Command (SSC) through the Naval Training Center of The Great Lakes in Illinois. These training facilities played a key role in developing Carlos the civilian, into Carlos the seamen, who later became Carlos the sailor. He dedicated his life to working and serving. Carlos was a member of the United States Navy and was employed through various driving occupations including being a bus driver in Forsyth County, working for the City of Winston Salem driving dump trucks, and he even drove trucks abroad for a living. Carlos also worked for companies like Frank L Blum, LL Long Construction, and Kobe Copper during his time on earth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother, Sophia A. Sheff; aunts, Joann Sheff, Mary L. Walker, Mae Avery, and Mary Jones; two uncles, Zeb Sheff Sr., and R.L. Shelf; along with his great-aunt, Ella Mae Williams.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 33 years, Minister Sharon S. Sheff; daughter, Tiffani (Dushawn) Patterson; son, Re'cder (Tiffany) Smith both of Winston Salem, NC; brother, Greg Sheff of Atlanta, GA; sister, Maria (Greg) Trapp of Winston Salem, NC; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grands; 1 nephew, Brian; 3 nieces, Erika, Danielle, and Shontae; 1 great-nephew; 3 great nieces; mother-in-law, Evangelist Patricia King; brother-in-law, AnTony King; sisters-in-law, Alfie (Tim) Dixon, Dede (Dewitt) Mitchel, Renane Simmons, and Carolyn (Cedric) Payne; aunts, Debra King, Wilma Jean, and Patricia (Reginald); and an abundance of other relatives and friends who will forever celebrate his memory.
A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Monday, March 13, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Tuesday at the Chapel.
