Carla Renee Howell-Black was born June 9, 1965 to Carl Lewis Howell and Beulah Mae Dublin Howell in Winston-Salem, NC. She departed this life on October 15, 2023.

She was a graduate of Parkland High School, Class of 1983. After graduation she began a career that spanned 10 years of employment at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, 10 years of employment at Sprint, before retiring as a Human Resources Manager at Family Dollar Corporate Office.

Carla was preceded in death by her father, Carl Lewis Howell; and other extended family members.

Left to cherish beautiful memories are her loving husband, Fernell Black; her devoted mother, Beulah Howell; sister, Sharon (Michael) Wharton; brother, Keith (Cham) Howell; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A viewing will be held from 1:00pm until 5:00pm Monday, October 23, 2023 at Russell Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:30am Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Dennis Bishop officiating.  The family visitation will be held from 11:00am until 11:30am on Tuesday at the Chapel.
