Obituary

"One glad morning when this life is over, I'll fly away."

Elder Carl Major Potter, Sr. better known as "Boy" or "Stranger" took his flight from his earthly home to his Heavenly home on Thursday, October 25, 2018.

Elder Potter was born on September 18, 1949 to Rufus Potter, Sr. and Mary Florence Potter in Forsyth County. Elder Potter was a veteran of the Military.

He attended the local public schools and was a graduate of Atkins/ Forsyth Technical Adult High School. Elder Potter was well known in the city for being a "Soul Winner" for the Lord, Street Preacher, and spreading the Gospel to others.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Denise Burrow; two sons, Cylus Chambers and Adrian Brady; two sisters, Linnie Wyche and Mary Lee Pollard; two brothers, Rufus Potter, Jr. and Thomas Smith; and a very devoted friend, Regina Mitchell.

Elder Potter leaves to cherish precious and beautiful memories his three daughters, Carlette S. Potter of the city, Sanedria Potter Holt (Shannon) and Mia Tiffany Potter of Atlanta, GA; three sons, Carl Major Potter, II (Angie), Joel Potter (Sylvia) of the city, and Kelly Potter (Sonya) of Louisville, KY; six sisters, Betty Wilson of Oxon Hill, MD, Martha Chapman (Johnny), Lillie Stone (Hilton), Blondella Parks (James), Wanda Jane Potter all of the city, and Verdeen Brown of Lakeland, FL; three brothers, Johnny "M.C." Potter, Anthony Tyrone Potter, and Reginald "Daddy-O" Potter (Isabelle) all of the city; fourteen grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends.

Elder Potter's love for his family and all of the lives he touched will be greatly missed, but his memories will live forever.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00pm Friday, November 2, 2018 at the Russell Funeral Home Chapel. The family visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 5:00pm on Friday at the Chapel. Interment will be held at 1:00pm Monday, November 5, 2018 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
