Obituary

Mr. Calvin Lewis Tanner of 119 Cheltenham Drive passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at his home. He was born July 13, 1945 in Forsyth County. He was the son of the late John L. Tanner Sr. and Cornelia Tanner.

Calvin Tanner graduated from Paisley Senior High School. He served in the United States Army and in the Viet Nam War. Calvin retired from the City of Winston-Salem with 16 years of service.

Calvin is survived by his wife, Vivian Flowers Tanner; five children who he loved dearly, Eugene Flowers of Philadelphia, PA, Charlene (Walter) Mack of Winston-Salem, NC, Ramon (Bernie) Bruce of Indianapolis, IN, John (Joi) Flowers of Camden, NJ, and Vivian Smith of Winston-Salem, NC; two brothers, John L. Tanner Jr. (Margretta), Willard B. Tanner (Lizzie), and one sister, Denise T. Hughes all of Winston-Salem, NC; he will be remembered by many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon Thursday, August 16, 2018 at St. John CME Church. The family visitation will be held from 11:30am until 12noon on Thursday at the Church. Burial will be held at 10:00am Friday, August 17, 2018 in Salisbury National Cemetery, Salisbury, NC.
