Calvin "Butch" Arthur Bridges was born on February 15, 1947 in Philadelphia, PA to Leon Johnson and Viola Bridges. Calvin died unexpectedly on October 15, 2015.

Calvin was educated in the Philadelphia school system. Calvin served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1966 after receiving the following medals: Army Commendation, National Defense, and Vietnam Service.

Calvin also received the Combat Infantryman Badge 1st Award, and the Parachutist Badge. After service, he went on to work for the US Department of Veteran Affairs as a veteran serving other veterans where he retired in 2002.

After retiring, Calvin moved to Winston-Salem to care for his ailing grandmother. It would be in 2005 that he would meet his lovely bride, Cynthia while she was caring for his grandmother at Forsyth Hospital.
Mr. Bridges was a devout Jehovah's Witness. Calvin was committed to servicing others and he would help anyone in need. He was also an avid music lover with special love for the oldies.

Calvin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Arthur Bridges; his grandmother, Margaret Bridges; and his daughter Tamiko Bridges.

He is survived by his loving wife of the home, Cynthia Foster Ledbetter Bridges; mother, Ms. Viola Bridges; aunt, Delores Faison; step-children, Keith and Demetria Ledbetter; devoted cousins, Thomas (Patricia) Chew, Thornburg, VA, Valerie Bridges and Teresa (Joe) Lewis, Charlotte, NC; special friend, William Cornish, Philadelphia, PA; and a host of cousins, relatives, friends, and caring in-laws.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witness, 3799 Old Lexington Road, Winston-Salem. The Military Rites, Committal and Benediction will be held at 1:00pm at Salisbury National Cemetery. The family visitation will be held from 10:30am until 11:00am on Wednesday at the Hall.
