Bruce Oliver Grier, 39 was born in Hampton, VA on September 22, 1969 and departed this life on February 28, 2009 in Oakland, CA. Mr. Grier spent his formative years in Winston-Salem, NC where he attended Forsyth County Schools. He completed high school in Dayton, OH. Mr. Grier attended Kent State University in Kent, OH.

Mr. Grier actively participated in Habitat for Humanity's projects, March of Dimes, and other humanitarian efforts throughout his adult life including Save the Children charities.

Bruce Grier is survived by his mother, Patricia Grier Boyd (Robert); his father, Steve Jones (Theresa); grandfather, Robert L. Grier; uncles, Samuel Grier and Kelly Grier; great-uncles, Lawrence and Lee (Rudine) Grier; paternal aunts, Marvina Roland, Willette Anthony (Christopher), Florence Pridgen (Daryl), Melinda Hash (James) and many other family members and friends.

Memorial services will be held at 10am Saturday, March 7, 2009 from the Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Serenus T. Church officiating. A brief life reflection will be held at 9:30am in the lobby.
