Our Father has called another one of His children home to rest with him. Today, we celebrate the life and honor the memory of Brandon Michael Odom, affectionately known as "Lil B".  His journey began on August 7, 1988, and ended on June 19, 2024.

Brandon was born to Flora Shabazz and the late Charles Flowers in Winston-Salem, NC. His step-father Rueben Gould, Jr., played a vital role in his life. The Winston-Salem Forsyth County School system educated him.

Everyone who knew Brandon knew he had a heart of gold,  full of life and a ball of energy. Brandon was a great man, whenever you saw him, he was always smiling and sharply dressed.  Although he was quiet, Brandon never met a stranger because of his love for people.  He loved to tell jokes and gave excellent advice. He would always offer encouraging words to the younger generation, family, and close friends, telling them "To stay focused and never give up!". Brandon had a big heart, if he saw elderly people struggling with groceries or having trouble walking, he would be sure to assist them. His goal was to become an entrepreneur by owning and operating his own trucking company so he could employ family and friends.

Brandon was very active as a child and during his teenage years. He played with the Mo Lucas Boss Drummers, was a Swim and Dive Team member at Sprague Street Recreation Center, played football for the Walkertown Wolfpacks, and briefly played for the Parkland Mustangs during high school.

Brandon had quite a few hobbies that he enjoyed during his leisure time. He had an adoration for cars and his cars were his most prized possessions. His other hobbies included traveling to new states and attending the games of the Carolina Panthers, Charlotte Hornets, and  North Carolina Tar Heels.  He loved watching sports and was an avid Baltimore Ravens football team fan. He enjoyed watching the Ohio State Buckeyes, Colorado Buffaloes football team, Charlotte Hornets basketball team, and North Carolina Tar Heels basketball team. Brandon also loved music and enjoyed attending music festivals and concerts. He enjoyed trying new foods, especially seafood, but above all,  he loved eating his mother's home-cooked meals.

Brandon loved and treasured his mother, Flora, and ensured she was always cared for. He spent quality time with her weekly and spoke with her daily.

Brandon was preceded in death by his father, Charles Flowers; grandmother, Mary B. Young; aunts, Archevia E. Barr and Susie Y. Scott; and uncle, James N. Young.

He leaves to cherish loving memories his mother, Flora J. Shabazz; his stepfather, Reuben Gould, Jr., both of Winston-Salem, NC; sister, Alicia Latten; aunts, Ms. Johnnie Mae Williams and Mrs. Mary Y. (Aaron) Smith, all of Winston-Salem, NC, and Hattie Fortune, of Baltimore, MD; nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, other family members, friends, and a devoted significant other, Ni'Keysha, who will all miss Brandon dearly.
